Weekly Blog: 3rd to 11th September 2026

Welcome all to a new academic year. It is lovely to welcome the children back and we are focusing on the topic of 'all about me' for the first couple of weeks. Activities we have enjoyed include, alongside other child initiated activities, have been:
  • Making models with play dough
  • Talking about how we are feeling and recognising facial expression
  • Drawing self portraits and making faces with various craft items
  • Looking at our name cards and clapping out the syllables of our names
  • Looking in a mirror and using descriptive words to describe ourselves
  • Drawing around people and then drawing features on the paper
  • Cutting out pictures of food and creating sticky pictures of what we like to eat
  • Writing our names in a sensory tray
  • Talking about our homes while playing with small world

Most activities are available throughout the weeks for all of the children to enjoy.

We also throughout the week:
  • Built with duplo
  • Creating models with magnetics
  • Enjoyed playing with dinosaurs
  • Enjoyed water play
  • Did a lot of mark making in various forms: water painting, wipe board marking, pencils, pens, tracing patterns
  • Enjoyed movement, music and dancing
  • Focused on fine motor skill activities such as threading and using tweezers
  • Played lots of matching games
  • Played lotto games and puzzles
  • Had lots of free craft including painting and creating some lovely artwork
  • Also a lot of listening games, songs and rhymes
  • Along with counting games and action songs.
  • We listened to lots of stories and looked at books
  • Enjoyed lots of fun phonological activities
