Weekly Blog: 6th to 17th July 2026

The children and staff have really enjoyed the last couple of weeks with the children. We have had lots of fun activities based on Summer and dinosaurs. We finished off the academic year with a fun party and we hope you like the photos of those in our gallery.

As you know it has been a stressful month behind the scenes with the news that we were given a section 25 notice from the CIO in June which stated that our tenancy was ending and playgroup were to leave the building at the end of December 2026. Due to being asked to only communicate through solicitors and all offers of mediation being refused we asked for public support. This has been given tenfold and we cannot thank everyone enough for the community support to help the CIO realise that having a pre-school in the village is really important.

The discussions with the CIO have now begun through our legal representatives on both sides, in the hope that playgroup can remain. We hope that we can resolve this to benefit both parties. We support any charitable endeavour for the community but there are many factors that we have to consider as to whether we can operate safely and legally with different conditions. When the playgroup trustees receive a document from the CIO team to our legal team to look at, then we can review our options and feedback to you all as soon as possible.

Please note that we will be continuing to work on this throughout the summer and also the team will be planning for September so we can welcome children old and new.

We wish you a happy and healthy summer. Thank you also to the families that gave us cards and gifts. It is greatly appreciated.

We will see you all in September!

Best wishes, The Chesterton Playgroup Team
