Weekly Blog: 27th September 2019
This week the children have been requesting all sorts of games and activities. These have included:

  • making sensory bottles with beans, glitter or water and oil (not forgetting extra glitter). This was a very popular task
  • playing a lot of board games in small groups as we listened to the torrential rain outside
  • listening games focused on animal sounds, environmental sounds and instrumental sounds and matching them to pictures
  • potato printing with paint
  • phonics activities based on learning the initial letter sounds in words and names
  • a focused activity counting out one object at a time and matching these to a numeral
  • forming letters and numbers during mark making
  • lots of story CDs
  • cutting up herbs and experimenting with play dough on our tuff tray activity of the week *crafting with glue, paint, ink stampers resulting in a glitter explosion!
  • *playing musical instruments
  • dancing outside with ribbons
  • singing in the rain
  • getting suited and booted in waterproof gear and wellies so the children could enjoy splashing in puddles and playing with water *searching for mini-beasts in the front playground (resulting in a worm hotel being made in one of the tyres)...
...and many more activities! As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate do during the week.
Please speak to your childs key person if you would like to have further information about your childs interests and progress.

NOTICE: Chesterton Playgroup is now part of the Amazon smile campaign.
If you use this link when you shop through Amazon the setting will be able to receive 0.5% of the profit. We would really appreciate your help and support with this. We have a wish list of items to purchase when we raise funds. We would also like to raise funds for a playgroup trip with the children. If we raise enough money this year it should be possible so please lend us your support!

Many thanks and have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Jackie and Amy
