Weekly Blog: 7th February 2020
This week the children have been focused and have developed their understanding of change and growth over time through our weekly book and linked activities.

Activities have included:
  • listening to our story of the week: The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
  • making butterfly and caterpillar pictures at the craft table and also creating life cycle pictures
  • counting out numbers in a group and focusing on our number of the week:10 with numicon and numerals
  • matching pictures and words with our hungry caterpillar lotto games
  • the older children had a group time focused on creating a mind map based on places we had been too. We then created a new role play area from their ideas which has led us to create an indoor garage driving space
  • learning about our shape of the week, a semi circle
  • practicing recognising our letter sound of the week:m
  • creating paper plate butterflies as well as a lot of cutting, the children have been very interested in using scissors and practicing their cutting skills this week
  • singing the jolly phonics songs and developing our recognition of letters and letter sounds
  • creating dens out of the tables, cushions and fabrics
  • playing a lot of physical games and having a yoga session
  • being very imaginative with small world at our Peppa Pig table and dinosaur tuff tray
  • lots of listening games, stories and action songs

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and are welcome to book a time for a chat.

NOTICE: We are aiming to recruit new Trustees so that we can have a handover period with our remaining Trustees to help with continuity. We need Trustees in order to remain open and we greatly appreciate our Trustees for their time and commitment. If you are interested in taking on a role now or in the future then please speak to Julia or one of our existing Trustees: Mallika Sumner, Laura Evans, Lisa Steptoe and Catlina Nickson.

Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Jackie and Amy
