Weekly Blog: 6th March 2020
Chesterton PlaygroupThis week the children have continued to be interested in our chick hatching program. All chicks have now been rehomed with Charlie and his family. We are so pleased they have found a new lovely home and we have all really enjoyed the experience and we hope to repeat it next year!

Activities have included:
  • listening to our story of the week: duck in a truck
  • playing balancing games and throwing and catching outside.
  • counting out numbers in a group and focusing on our number of the week:12
  • continuing our understanding of the life cycle chicken and a duck
  • practicing our listening skills while listening to environmental sounds and also Mrs Browns box which contains a collection of sounds the children need to guess what the object is
  • developing our mediation skills with superhero meditation and pebble meditation (one pebble to focus on in each hand, one representing what makes you happy and the other representing how you can make someone else happy)
  • practicing recognising our letter sound of the week:o
  • looking at picture cards and using prepositions to describe where objects are in the picture
  • introducing helicopter stories, story scribing and story acting, this really helps with children literary skills
  • continuing role playing in our new baby clinic role play area
  • playing group games such as 'whose got the ball?' and 'where's the honey?'
  • enjoying ring games and singing
  • learning about st Davids day and creating dragon and daffodil pictures and listening to the welsh national anthem *creating still life pictures from our real life display of daffodils
  • counting and recognising numbers with books and games
  • recognising 2d shapes and introducing 3d shapes with our shape of the week: a sphere
  • reminding ourselves of the rules of the setting
  • practicing emergency lockdown with the children, they think this is a really fun game as they have to respond the the code word and move as fast as they can with an adult to a safe area (they are very good at this and find it amusing)

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing.
NOTICE: We are aiming to recruit new Trustees so that we can have a handover period with our remaining Trustees to help with continuity. We need Trustees in order to remain open and we greatly appreciate our Trustees for their time and commitment. If you are interested in taking on a role now or in the future then please speak to Julia or one of our existing Trustees: Mallika Sumner, Laura Evans, Lisa Steptoe and Catalina Nickson.
Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Jackie and Amy
