Weekly Blog: 12th to 16th May 2025
For the past two weeks we have enjoyed Literacy as a topic.

Activities we have done include, alongside other child initiated activities:

  • learning about the 5 key concepts of print, all about what an author is, how we hold a book etc
  • we have focused on phonological awareness through games and activities
  • we have read a lot of stories and talked about books and introduced new vocabulary
  • we have focused on mark making and early writing, encouraging older children to recognise and write their name as well as forming other letters
  • we have enjoyed lots of role play and making up stories
  • made our own story books
  • played with sand
  • enjoyed dressing up
  • built models with junk modelling
  • lots of painting and craft
  • lots of fun outside play
  • phonics games and activities
  • lots of games and puzzles have been enjoyed

Please see the links below for home learning ideas related to our topic.

For further home learning ideas you can look back through the previous weeks to find more ideas of things you can do at home.

Best wishes, Julia, Claire, Hannah, Lisa and Adam
