Weekly Blog: 3rd to 5th September 2025
On Wednesday we welcomed the children to a new term, welcoming old friends and new. This week we have focused on personal, social and emotional skills. Our main focus getting to know each other and settling in.
Activities we have done include, alongside other child initiated activities:
  • getting to know our new friends and key person
  • encouraging the children to engage with each other and the staff team *learning about emotional regulation, different emotions and our feelings
  • drawing self portraits
  • drawing pictures of and talking about our families
  • choosing from a range of activities in the setting inside and outside including play dough, threading, puzzles, playing with cars and building with wooden blocks. Also playing with sand, giant diggers and foam bricks along with climbing on the climbing frame and using the balance beams to balance
  • learning about the rules of the setting
  • learning how to transition successfully throughout the day from one activity to another and flowing from inside to outside play
  • the children have painted, made pictures with glue and stickers and lots of mark making
  • there have been group circle times promoting discussions as well as listening to stories, singing songs and dancing
  • role play has been based around the kitchen and building and dressing up has been enjoyed by the children.
Please see the links below for home learning ideas related to personal, social and emotional development.
