Weekly Blog: 20th to 24th October 2025
This week we have again focused on Literacy with lots of fun games and activities. Our books of the week has been The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
Activities we have enjoyed include, alongside other child initiated activities:
  • investigating the story the hungry caterpillar with a story sack
  • learning about the festival of Diwali and making patterns in our glitter tuff traywe have developed fine motor skills by doing pencil control activities
  • every day we have been doing phonic activities and maths number games and number recognition
  • we made handprint caterpillar pictures
  • we sorted healthy and unhealthy food and role played in our kitchen
  • we have enjoyed doing lots of puzzles
  • playing small world with our train set
  • we made a caterpillar number line to 5
  • enjoyed lots of mark making
  • we have sung lots of rhymes and enjoyed dancing the children have continued to enjoy drawing, making pictures with glue and stickers and painting
  • listened to story cds
  • made a hungry caterpillar shopping list while mark making
  • made pumpkin pictures and bat pictures
  • practiced our spooning skills with rice
  • carved a pumpkin
  • made butterfly pictures
  • enjoyed singing phonic songs
  • enjoyed water painting
  • made models with play dough
  • role played hairdressers
  • played I spy - guess what I am games
  • made magic wands
