Weekly Blog: 2nd to 6th March

This week we have focused on the topic of looking after our environment.
Activities we have enjoyed include, alongside other child initiated activities have been:

On Monday we learnt all about recycling. Sorting objects for recycling and make junk model objects out of old materials. We also counted pictures of people who help us and learnt about the festival of Holi.
Outside we enjoyed mixing colours with shaving foam.

On Tuesday we learnt all about going planting seeds and the life cycle of a plant. The children planted seedlings, made flower pictures and learnt about how a plant grows.

On Wednesday we learnt all about caring for animals and what vets do.
The children listened to a story about a vet, matched pictures of animals to their homes. Also looked at what different animals eat. We counted animals and role played being a vet with the soft toys.

On Thursday we learnt all about the life cycle of a butterfly and acted this out. The children also enjoyed painting butterfly pictures and we spent a lot of time outside enjoying the sunshine, learning all about how birds make nests and all about the weather as we discussed what was around us.

On Friday we learnt all about the life cycle of a frog and the water cycle and reviewed all of what we had learnt throughout the week. All activities are available throughout the week so all children can participate if we wish too.
