This week we have continued our new topic: Myself and my community

Activities this week have included:

• ia circle time learning about Australia
• learning how to play a real didgeridoo
• making a didgeridoo at the craft table
• decorating and designing a didgeridoo on paper
• a circle time learning about the Amazon rainforest in South America after which the children helped create a display board for this subject. They decorated a tree with handprints, cut out pictures of animals that live in the rainforest and they also drew pictures and labelled them
• lots of outside play: playing under tarpaulin (this was amazingly entertaining), singing outside and reading stories, playing musical instruments, throwing and catching balls, chalk drawing, gardening and searching for minibeasts, jumping on large shapes and best of all having lunch outside on our new picnic tables
• a circle time learning about North America
• decorating an American flag and having a go at some American themed sports such as baseball, basketball and bowling
• potato printing with paint and lots of painting in general
• looking at shapes in the environment, playing I-spy numbers, shapes and letters
• lots of mark making for the younger children and name practice for the older children
• A LOT of water play in the sunshine which caused a lot of laughter
• balancing on the beams outside and moving in a variety of ways including yoga moves
• a circle time learning about Africa, animals that live there and their patterns, drawing pictures of animals and labelling them
• making soft models out of playdough
• choosing art materials from the drawers for independent free art: sticking resources, paint dabbers, paper, ink stampers, crayons, chalk, whiteboards and marker pens
  

PLEASE NOTE:
Please make sure your child has a named sunhat and has suncream applied before they come to playgroup. For those children staying all day we will reapply suncream at lunchtime.
