Weekly Blog: 24th May 2019
This week we have continued our new topic: Myself and my community, focusing on our world
Activities this week have included:
- a circle time learning about China
- looking at and practicing Chinese writing *a circle time looking at pictures and describing the great wall of China
- using construction tools to create our own great wall of China
- a circle time learning about India and using rice to create rangoli patterns
- lots of outside play: water play, sand play, outdoor construction, glitter art, painting, throwing and catching, music and stories are just a few of the activities we have done in our garden and playground
- a circle time learning about art in India, looking at patterns, designs and creating our own patterns
- continuing to look at shapes in the environment, playing I-spy numbers, shapes and letters
- lots of mark making for the younger children and name practice for the older children
- dancing to music
- reinforcing our expectations of behaviour in the setting: kind words, gentle hands and treating the resources as well as we would our own toys at home
- choosing art materials from the drawers for independent free art:
sticking resources, paint dabbers, paper, ink stampers, crayons, chalk, whiteboards and marker pens

We are off next week for our half term break. We will see you all again on Monday the third of June.
