Weekly Blog: 29th November 2019
This week the children have continued to be intrepid and chirpy in their play. Activities have included::

  • listening to our story of the week, aliens love underpants, and using the linked items on the literacy shelf which included stick puppets, a word and picture mat, story sequencing cards, a matching game and some clean pants!
  • learning about the celebration of Thanksgiving and creating some handprint turkeys. We also discussed what we are thankful for, the responses ranged from "Mummy" and "daddy" to "my cat" and "bananas!"
  • lots of listening games, dancing and singing
  • the children have been finding numerals in the environment, counting objects and matching them to numicon
  • learning about our shape of the week, a square. We have drawn it, named it and found it in the environment as well as played a few other shape games
  • playing imaginatively with my little ponies
  • practicing recognising our letter of the week: a. Copying it, finding pictures with the initial letter sound. Singing the jolly phonics song and spotting it in the environment are a few ways we have been learning the weekly letter
  • continuing to make tea in our role play tea shop area
  • learning our number of the week: 2
  • rolling, throwing and catching hoops in the garden
  • being very creative at the art table
  • we have continued developing our book talk, an example includes reading 'winnie the witch' and afterwards the children talked about their houses (as Winnie changed hers in the story) and where they would fly to.
As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your childs key person if you would like to have further information about your childs interests and progress.
