Weekly Blog: 13th December 2019
This week the children have continued to be merry and festive in their play. Activities have included:

  • listening to our story of the week, the polar bear and the snow cloud, and using the linked items on the literacy shelf which included picture cards, bear pictures, word mats, a matching game and games linked to our letter of the week: p.
  • making reindeer soup on our tuff tray with brussel sprouts and carrots
  • learning about the art of a pantomime while focusing on traditional tales.
  • lots of listening games, dancing to Christmas music and singing
  • the children have been listening to lots of Christmas stories
  • learning about our shape of the week, a star. We have drawn it, named it and found it in the environment as well as played a few other shape games
  • learning makaton signs for Christmas, which include: elf, reindeer, Father Christmas, present and Christmas tree.
  • practicing recognising our letter of the week: p. Copying it, finding pictures with the initial letter sound. Singing the jolly phonics song and spotting it in the environment are a few ways we have been learning the weekly letter
  • continuing to make tea in our role play tea shop area
  • learning our number of the week: 4
  • continuing to make Christmas gifts for our families
  • being very creative at the art table
