Weekly Blog: 6th November 2020

Chesterton PlaygroupThis week we have been very busy and it has been lovely to see the children come back so enthusiastic after the half term break. My favourite quote of the week from one of the children came when we were sitting down for group circle time when he excitedly asked "what are we going to learn about today?".

The activities we have participated in have included:
  • a picture game based on prepositions where the children had to describe in the picture where the cartoon ghost was
  • investigating outside with out new outdoor kit containing binoculars, buckets, magnifying pots etc
  • talking about the seasons and playing a 'guess the season' game while looking at photos
  • drawing and naming shapes
  • making calendars for next year
  • dancing
  • listening games
  • listening to story cd's and listening to adults read stories
  • road safety talk and practicing crossing the road
  • general safety discussion based around the home environment
  • games with the musical instruments
  • action songs
  • bonfire night safety talk and stories based around this
  • watching a video of a firework display and creating firework artwork
  • rhyming bingo
  • phonics one letter and sounds activities and games
  • yoga
  • pencil control activities
  • counting and copying numerals
  • counting two groups of objects and pictures in preperation for basic addition (up to ten)
  • discussing the difference betweeen 2d and 3d shapes. Naming them and going on a shape hunt
  • decorating a box!

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing.

We are looking forward to seeing you all next week. Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Hannah, Jackie and Amy
