Chesterton PlaygroupThis week the children have been engaged and involved in all of the activities going on.

  • investigating our tuff tray table which had small mirrors and emotion cards to help us recognise and understand expressions
  • learning about Diwali, listening to the story of Rama and Sita, and making firework pictures
  • playing a guess the percussuion instrument game
  • playing with items in our new maths box, counting and walking on our giant number line and playing with dice: rolling it and then clapping out the number of spots
  • measuring dinosaur bones and sorting different lengths
  • listening games
  • using a picture ball and making animal sounds while developing throwing and catching skills Also repeating some fun activities from the previous week that the children enjoyed, including:
  • action songs
  • phonics one letter and sounds activities and games
  • pencil control activities
  • counting and copying numerals
  • counting two groups of objects and pictures in preperation for basic addition (up to ten)
  • discussing the difference betweeen 2d and 3d shapes. Naming them and going on a shape hunt

Throughout the week we celebrated Children in Need and raised money for the charity. The children enjoyed dressing up and taking part in games such as hunting for pudsey bear. They also created a giant pudsey picture at the craft table and we had a lot of fun.

Thank you to the grown ups that donated bottles to our bottle tombola and those who sponsored a duck for the children in need duck race. Thanks to all of the contributions Chesterton Playgroup raised £84! Many thanks for your support to this charity.

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing.
We are looking forward to seeing you all next week. Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Hannah, Jackie and Amy
