Weekly Blog: 11th February 2022
Chesterton PlaygroupThis week has been very exciting as on Monday we received some eggs to incubate so we could hatch chicks, this has caused great excitement among the children and the experience is really engaging their learning in regards to lifecycles, caring for animals and observing changes.
Alongside this we have:
  • had group times learning about chickens and the life cycle of a chicken
  • made chicks out of craft, cut out chick pictures and completed life cycle pictures
  • at the beginning of the week we created a display board asking the children what they already knew about chickens, we will ask them again next week to see what they have learnt
  • talked about who we love and care for as Valentines day is approaching and the children have made some valentine craft
  • at the craft area the children have enjoyed painting, cutting, gluing and drawing
  • enjoyed modelling with playdough
  • searched for letters with magnets
  • outside the children have been really enjoying the sandpit and creating obstacle courses
  • during role play the children have loved playing emergency services
  • as usual we have enjoyed lots of stories, songs, rhymes and listening games this week
  • built amazing construction with foam bricks
  • discovered shapes, 2d and 3d with our shape table
  • counted lots of things, including dinosaurs

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing.
Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Hannah, Jackie and Amy
