This week we have been talking about what we did in the half term holidays and we have also:

• focused a lot on our book of the week Goldilocks and the three bears
• had a lot of activities based on our book of the week including sorting the size of bears and objects in the story. Also mixing porridge in different sized bowls with different sized spoons
• lots of painting, including incorporating different textures such as oats
• completed puzzles such as a large solar system floor puzzle and then talking about space
• focused a lot on taking turns and developing our social skills
• following the childrens interests we discussed and learnt about the different parts of a fish
• we retold the story of goldilocks and the three bears through acting it out and also using picture cards and singing songs
• learnt about the properties of shapes and wrote labels for them
• phonics activities such as thinking of words that begin with certain letter sounds
• also various music and movement activities to encourage health and fitness
• the children enjoyed making creations with play dough
• outside we had fun with hula hoops and also planting seeds
• we also focused on positional language: above, below, behind and next too etc
• lots of counting activities
• guessing the shape in a mystery bag with 3d shapes
• the older children enjoyed looking at the number lines and representing numbers on paper
• lots of child initiated craft
  

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress.
