Weekly Blog: 5th May 2022
This week we have been following the children interests and focusing on the book of the week: The Hungry Caterpillar, we have also:
  • enjoyed threading leaves on our tuff tray
  • posted pictures of food into our caterpillar box in the order they appear in the story
  • had a lot of small world play with cars/garages, farm/animals and dolls houses with furniture and people. This has given the children lovely opportunities to involve narrative into their play
  • played a hungry caterpillar sorting game
  • counted caterpillar food
  • created caterpillar and butterfly craft
  • while listening to the story the children have been asked "what do you think is happening next?, where should this go?" The children were also encouraged to make marks from the story and draw pictures and also some children formed and represented letter from the story
  • learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly while looking a pictures of a real butterfly in this process
  • learnt about Ramadan and Eid
  • read the story of Rameena's Ramadan - how we can be generous and help others
  • physical activities included: jumping beans, rolling dice and clapping the number, yoga, riding bikes and scooters, chalking, throwing and catching balls and playing action games and songs
  • lots of mark making with the wipe boards
  • playing listening games and playing games such as 'what's missing?' (guessing the missing object out of a group of objects)
  • the children also re enacted their own version of 'going on a bear hunt'

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing. Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Hannah, Jackie and Amy
