Weekly Blog: 23rd to 27th February 2026

This week we have focused on the topic of people who help us. Activities we have enjoyed include, alongside other child initiated activities have been:

On Monday we learnt all about what doctors do. We counted pictures of doctors and nurses. We enjoyed role playing caring for each other in our role play Doctors area. We drew around each other and then labelled the picture showing different body parts such as leg, arm etc. We cut out pictures of what would be in a doctors bag and glued it onto a picture. We enjoyed lots of phonics linked to this topic, making sounds related to what you might hear at a hospital, matching rhyming words to paper medicine bottles, and we also looked at emotion cards and made our faces into various expressions and discussed different emotions. We reviewed these activities throughout the week.

On Tuesday we learnt all about going to the dentists, what they do and we role played this as well. We learnt about how to brush your teeth and why it is important. We learnt all about the importance of eating healthy food to support our teeth and we also enjoyed fine motor activities based on this topic and we reviewed these activities throughout the week.

On Wednesday we learnt all about going to see the optician. We learnt about parts of the eye and looked at pictures and letters up close and from a distance. We tried on different glasses and made an eye chart of the colour of our eyes. We played I spy and enjoyed listening to and looking at lots of story books, which is one of our favourite things to do.

On Thursday we learnt all about fitness trainers and the importance of looking after our physical health. We learnt about why we should exercise. We did a yoga class, did lots of movement games. We played team games, games with the parachute and completed an obstacle course. Throughout the day the children also enjoyed kicking balls and hula hooping. We enjoy playing these physical games as often as we can when we are inside and outside.
